This temporary halt aims to facilitate essential repairs, widening, and macadamization along the Zojila stretch of the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) road.

According to the advisory issued, the suspension will affect travel from Y-Junction to Zero Point on the highway. Motorists planning to travel to Ladakh from the Valley are advised to avoid moving beyond Sonamarg during this period. Similarly, those traveling from Ladakh towards the Valley should refrain from proceeding beyond Minamarg.

The roadworks are crucial for enhancing the infrastructure and safety of this vital route, which connects Srinagar with Leh. Authorities emphasize the importance of adhering to these guidelines to ensure the smooth execution and timely completion of the maintenance activities.

This temporary suspension is expected to improve road conditions, benefiting future journeys along this significant highway.

“Travelers are urged to plan their journeys accordingly and cooperate with the authorities to minimize inconvenience during the scheduled maintenance period,” the advisory said.
