Three Injured in Knife Attack During NC Rally in Jammu and Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: Three youths were injured in an alleged knife attack on the sidelines of a rally attended by the National Conference President and party’s candidate for the Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary Constituency, Mian Altaf, in Mendhar, Poonch district on Sunday.

Quoting sources, GNS reported that a clash occurred between two groups on the sidelines of the rally, during which one of the groups used a knife, leading to injuries to three youths.

They said that the injured trio was initially shifted to a nearby hospital and later transferred to GMC Rajouri for advanced treatment.

Dr Javid Ahmad said that the condition of one of the injured, identified as Yasir Ahmad (22), son of Mohd Shabir, a resident of Gultha Harni, is serious.

The other two injured have been identified as Suhail Ahmad, son of Mohd Bashir, a resident of Qasab Mendhar, and Imran Ahmad, who, according to sources, fled from the hospital for unknown reasons.

A police official said that a case has been registered and further investigations have commenced. No arrests have been made so far, but the police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the accused.

Meanwhile, people were protesting at Main Chowk Mendhar against the incident and demanded justice. (GNS)
