J&K Government has slapped Public Safety Act (PSA) on two more persons in Kashmir charged for taking part in pro-freedom protests.

During the intervening night of Oct 13&14, two persons from Pulwama district were shifted to Kathua jail.

The duo is associated with Muslim League.

The duo has been identified as Ab Rashid Dar, s/o Gh Muhammad Dar, resident of Kulpora, Pulwama.

Son of Ab Rashid told Kashmir Life that his family was informed by police last evening. “We met Dar at Police Station Pulwama before he was taken to Kathua.”

Dar, Muslims League district chief, was arrested during the intervening night of Oct 3&4 from the house of his brother.

Along with Dar, police slapped PSA on Manzoor Lelhaari, who is Pulwama district secretary of Muslims League.

He is a resident of Lelhaar Kakpora and was arrested some days ago.

Under PSA, a person in detained with out trial for six months at least and the detention period extends up to two years at the most.

Since the current uprising was triggered on July 08, 2016, thousands of people have been arrested while over 450 have been booked under PSA – a ‘lawless law’ declared by human rights watch dog Amnesty International.
