SRINAGAR: Back in 2021, when Parvez Ahmed completed his degree, he landed a small role in a Tamil movie. This small role led him to a much bigger opportunity in his second film, where he plays a second lead. Now, the 26-year-old is optimistic about a brighter future in the acting industry.

A resident of Warwan Valley in Kishtwar district, Parvez Ahmed completed his schooling in Anantnag district. He then completed his engineering degree in Computer Science from a college in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. “I then started my job with a private company in the area, and I took up fashion modelling as a part-time job,” he said.

The modelling job landed him a small role in a Tamil movie, ‘Labour’, in 2021. “Then, in 2023, I started working in another Tamil movie, where I play a titular role of a second lead. The movie is called ‘Rail’. It is my first feature movie,” Parvez said. “I am primarily a software developer but open to movie opportunities as well. I am in talks about another project too.”

Directed by Bhaskar Sakthi, Rail has been produced under the banner of Discovery Cinemas by M Vediyappan. The film stars Kungumaraj Muthusamy, Parvaiz Ahmed Mahroo, Vairamala, and Ramesh Vaidya, and was released a few days ago on June 21.

Parvez’s family, especially his sisters, are very happy with his success. “Learning the language was a challenge, but this movie has live sync, which means as we delivered our dialogues, they were recorded at the same time, so we had to be perfect. There were retakes due to some mispronunciations. My dialogues are a combination of Tamil and Hindi. My character in the movie is a North Indian who visits South India.”

He plans to balance his full-time job as a software developer with his acting career.
