Police Solve Mosque Theft Case, Accused Arrested

   

SRINAGAR: By apprehending an accused individual who was involved in the conduct of a crime, police in Baramullahave resolved a theft case.

“The Intezamia Committee of Masjid Madina Dargah Aaliya Old Town Baramulla filed a written complaint with Police Post Old Town Baramulla on June 14, 2024, claiming that some unidentified individuals had stolen from the donation box of Masjid Sharief during the night,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.

As a result, an investigation was started and a case was filed in Police Station Baramulla under File No. 142/2024 in accordance with the applicable legal provisions.

“Technical evidence was examined throughout the inquiry, and once it was determined that the accused was Waseem Ahmad Chichek, son of Abdul Gaffar, a resident of Lal Baab Sahab Arampora Sopore, he was taken into custody. The accused acknowledged his involvement in the commission of the crime during interrogation. Following his disclosure, items that had been stolen were recovered,” the statement reads.

Inquiry into the case is still ongoing.
