Taking preventive measures to ensure normalcy, the authorities disallowed obligatory Friday Congregational prayers at historic Jamia Masjid in central Kashmir’s Srinagar. In South Kashmir’s Islamabad, people are observing shutdown to commemorate death anniversary of Qazi Nisar. This is first Friday of Ramadhan 2015.

Reports said that curfew like situation is in place as people were not allowed to move out of their houses to offer prayers.

Authorities disallowed the Sopore march called by Hurriyat amalgams and JKLF to sympathize with families of slain civilians.

Authorities have put in place section 144 till further orders in Khanyar, Rainawari, Nowhatta, M.R. Gunj, Safa Kadal, Parimpora and Maisuma areas of the city.

They put almost all Hurriyat leaders under house arrest while Syed Ali Geelani tried to move out of his house detention, he was arrested by police.

Meanwhile, South Kashmir’s Islamabad district is observing shutdown to commemorate the 21 death anniversary of Qazi Nisar.

Founder of socio-religious organization Ummat-e-Islami, which is headed by his son Qazi Yasir now, Nisar was killed by unidentified gunmen on this day in 1994 at Dialgam village in the district.
