Seven Militants Active in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda: Police

   

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have reported that around seven militants are active in two places in the Doda district, with approximately four in the Kota Top area of Gundoh and two to three in the Chattergala area of Bhaderwah.

Police have also arrested three people for providing shelter and acting as guides to these militants in Kota Top.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda Javed Iqbal said, “In connection with the contact established with the militants in Kota Top, three people, Safdar, Mubashir, and Sajad, all residents of Tanta Draman village in the Gundoh area, have been arrested for providing shelter and food to the militants and also acting as guides for them. “They helped the terrorists to settle there, provided logistical support, and didn’t inform the police about it. We have arrested them on these charges and more arrests are expected in the coming days.”

“We have confirmation of the presence of two groups of militants in Kota Top and Chattergala, with four active in Kota Top and two to three militants active in Chattergala,” the SSP informed.

On 11 June, a joint patrol party of police and Army was fired upon by militants in the Chattergala area of Bhaderwah, injuring five soldiers and one special police officer. On 12 June, one police constable was injured when security forces established contact with militants in Kota Top.

The SSP said that security forces are alert to the situation and have taken necessary steps to address the matter. “Cordon and search operations are ongoing continuously in these areas and forces are alert to the situation,” he added. —(KNO)
