The test, which saw participation from approximately 11.11 lakh candidates in its second edition, assessed students’ knowledge in various subjects.

English emerged as the subject with the highest number of top scorers, with 5,685 candidates achieving a perfect score. Biology, including Biotechnology and Biochemistry, followed closely behind with 4,850 candidates attaining the highest score. Economics secured the third position, with 2,836 candidates obtaining a perfect score.

Sadhana Parashar, the Senior Director of the National Testing Agency (NTA), explained that the performance of each candidate was evaluated using the equi-percentile method. This involved calculating normalised marks for every candidate based on the percentiles achieved by groups of students in the same subject across multiple days of the test.

The CUET UG examination took place over a period from May 21 to June 23, 2023, comprising nine phases across 387 cities within India and 24 cities outside the country. A significant number of approximately 14.90 lakh students appeared for the examination, indicating the widespread interest and importance of this entrance test in India.
