Addressing a function at Dak Bungalow in the Baramulla district of North Kashmir, the LG stated that many people approached him claiming eligibility for the PMAY but had no land.

“So, the administration reviewed the situation and decided to allocate 5 malras of land under the PMAY to such families, enabling them to construct their own houses. Thus far, 199,500 homes have been sanctioned for homeless families, including 46,000 SC and ST category families eligible for the scheme, as well as 2,711 families without land,” he said. “Unfortunately, some individuals are deceiving the public by spreading false information that land is being given to outsiders. No outsider is being granted land in J&K.”

Without explicitly mentioning any political party or leader, the LG stated that those who unlawfully acquired state land and built large houses using ill-gotten funds should cease deceiving the public. “These individuals must stop causing confusion. I will not delve into the sources of their funds used to construct large palaces on illegally encroached state land,” the LG added, according to KNO.

Additionally, the LG inaugurated a multipurpose 100-seater cinema hall at Maqbool Sherwani Hall in Baramulla. He mentioned that after a 30-year gap, Baramulla finally has a cinema hall with a capacity of 100 seats. “This cinema at Maqbool Sherwani Hall in Baramulla will not only provide entertainment but also serve as an excellent learning resource for young individuals aspiring to excel in education, technology, and art,” he stated.

Seeking the support of the people in establishing peace in J&K, the LG emphasised that the security forces and police were doing commendable work, but it was the collective responsibility of every citizen to contribute to peacebuilding. The LG also expressed openness to all suggestions for the prosperity of J&K. However, he clarified that he had no interest in political suggestions, neither in the past nor in the future. (KNO)
