SRINAGAR: In a resounding declaration of India’s military prowess and developmental achievements under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh issued a stern warning to detractors, both domestic and foreign, during a massive public rally in Basohli near Kathua-Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency on Monday.

Singh emphasised India’s capability to strike at its enemies, both on its own soil and across the Line of Control (LoC), citing past surgical strikes on terrorist camps across the LoC as evidence of India’s strength. Addressing the crowd gathered to support BJP candidate Dr Jitendra Singh, Rajnath Singh stated, “India has the world’s best military might, and it has the power to strike at its enemy from its own soil and also in the enemy’s territory across LoC.”

Under Modi’s leadership, Singh asserted, India is scaling new heights, emerging as the world’s third-largest economy. “India has emerged as the strongest country globally on all fronts under the leadership of Modi,” he proclaimed, highlighting the government’s achievements in various sectors.

Taking a swipe at opposition parties, Singh accused them of exploiting Article 370 for political gain. He countered claims of unrest in Jammu and Kashmir after its abrogation, asserting that peace and development prevail in the region. Singh also affirmed the government’s commitment to implementing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the next five years. Singh said the Ram Rajya has started taking roots in the country and nobody can stop it in becoming a reality.

Hitting at the National Conference for misusing Article 370 for their own political benefits, Singh made a special mention of PDP president. “Mehbooba said nobody would pick up Tiranga in Jammu and Kashmir if Article 370 would be abolished, but the National Flag is flying high in every house and Government buildings”, Singh said. “I want to tell you, Mehbooba Mufti, today the tricolour is being unfurled on all parts of Jammu and Kashmir.”

Instead of a bloodbath on the roads, as was being threatened in anticipation of the reading down of Article 370, Singh point out, “streams of milk and water are flowing in Jammu and Kashmir.”

Singh praised Dr Jitendra Singh as a capable minister and expressed confidence in his victory in the upcoming elections. He urged voters to review the BJP’s past manifestos, emphasizing the party’s track record of fulfilling its promises.

In a brief interaction with reporters, Singh expressed confidence in the BJP’s prospects in the upcoming elections while refraining from commenting directly on the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, citing the ongoing legal proceedings.
