SRINAGAR: In the lead-up to the elections in North Kashmir, tensions between political rivals have escalated, with accusations of campaign sabotage and counter-allegations dominating the discourse.
The war of words started after the directive issued by the office of Senior Superintendent of Police in Sopore, Divya D, to the additional district magistrate, outlining the rescheduling of various political activities in the Sopore area of north Kashmir,
National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah expressed concern over what he described as attempts to sabotage his campaign in three key segments.
He pointed fingers at his opponents, alleging that they were resorting to underhanded tactics and receiving support from the administration.
Omar Abdullah urged the Election Commission to intervene and address the alleged interference.
“My opponents have been unnerved by the tremendous response my campaign is receiving throughout North Kashmir. This move to sabotage my campaign in three important segments is further proof of their collective inability to match the response of the voters. They have taken to hiding behind the Administration which is going out of its way to help these BJP proxy candidates. I hope the @ECISVEEP will take note of this move by the administration to sabotage my campaign,” National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah said in post on ‘X’

In response, Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Gani Lone dismissed Omar Abdullah’s claims as “TARBAAZI”, asserting that both parties had received the same instructions regarding program rescheduling.
He criticised Abdullah for what he perceived as a sense of entitlement and urged him to focus on addressing the lack of enthusiasm among voters instead of resorting to accusations.
In a post on ‘X’ Sajad Gani Lone said that “Can we stop this “TARBAAZI”. We have now stopped to TARBAAZ- Pro. And seems we will need to create a special section to counter lies manufactured by you on an hourly basis,”
“We have also been instructed to reschedule our programmes. In fact both PC and NC have been intimated in the same order, which I have attached for your reference. In wonderment why you couldn’t read the whole order,” he said.

“Stop being a cry baby. And tell your cronies to come up with lies which have a longer shelf life. I was accosted out of a village just two hours back. Ohh God this entitlement of yours is sickening,” he added.
“A humble piece of advice. For your opponents to get unnerved you have to have crowds. Don’t expect us to get unnerved with non-existent crowds. Introspect on non-existent crowds. And youngsters are chasing you away,” he added.
