SRINAGAR: In the upcoming second phase of Lok Sabha polls on April 26, over 17.80 lakh voters will hold the destiny of 22 candidates contesting from the 5-Jammu Parliamentary Constituency in their hands.

This constituency spans across 18 Assembly segments in four districts, namely Reasi, Samba, Jammu, and Rajouri.

The Office of the Returning Officer for 5-Jammu Parliamentary Constituency disclosed that out of the 17,80,835 registered voters, 9,21,095 are male, 8,59,712 are female, and 28 belong to the transgender community.

Among these, 37,822 are service voters, comprising 37,025 males and 797 females. To facilitate the democratic process, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has established 2416 polling stations throughout the constituency.

Notably, 18 Green Polling Stations, 46 Pink Polling Stations, and 18 PwD manned polling stations have been set up to ensure inclusivity and environmental consciousness.

Each district within the constituency presents its unique demographic landscape. Reasi district, with three Assembly Constituencies, boasts 23,52,62 voters, while Samba district, with its three Assembly Constituencies, comprises 2,59,198 voters.

Jammu district, the largest in terms of electors, hosts 11,89,389 voters across 11 Assembly Constituencies.

Similarly, Rajouri district, albeit with only one Assembly Constituency falling under Jammu PC, adds 96,986 voters to the electoral roll.

Interestingly, the R S Pura-Jammu South Assembly Constituency holds the record for the highest number of voters, tallying at 1,24,744, while Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Assembly segment in Reasi district records the lowest number with 55,737 voters.

As the election day approaches, anticipation mounts among candidates and voters alike, each eager to see the outcome that will shape the political landscape of the region.

With such a diverse electorate, the contest promises to be an intriguing one, reflecting the varied aspirations and concerns of the constituents in the Jammu Parliamentary Constituency.
