One person died and six others were injured in different road accidents in Shopian, Kulgam and Handwara, police said Saturday.

In Shopian, a Santro vehicle driven by Mudasir Ahmad Ganaie resident of Keller met with an accident near Boys Higher Secondary School Shopain, resulting in injuries to Ghulam Qadir Khanday resident of Mastpora Keller who was boarding the car. The Injured was shifted to District Hospital Shopian for treatment, wherefrom he was referred to SKIMS Soura, Srinagar for further treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. After completion of medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.

In Kulgam, a Tata mobile bearing registration number JK03E-0578 hit and injured four pedestrians Mohammad Ibrahim Bhat, Mst. Mehbooba residents of Khrewan, Ghulam Mohammad Gangee resident of Wanpoh, and Abdul Rashid Bhat resident of Lassipora at Mirbazar crossing in the jurisdiction of Police Post Mirbazar. All the injured were shifted to District Hospital Islamabad for treatment.

In Handwara, a vehicle bearing registration number JK09A-2285 hit and injured two minor pedestrians Basit Lateef Shah resident of Vodhpora and Akeel Ashraf Mir resident of Jaggerpora at village Vodhpora in the jurisdiction of Police Post Chogal, Handwara. Both the injured were shifted to hospital for treatment.
