One person died while eight others were injured in two different road accidents across the valley. Meanwhile a residential house was damaged in fire in Narain Bagh, in Ganderbal, a police statement said.

A Maruti Van bearing registration number JK05/6630 driven by Shahzad Ahmad Lone son of Ghulam Nabi Lone resident of Panipora Sagipora, Sopore skidded off the road at Galander, Handwara. “In this accident the driver of the vehicle died on spot while as six passengers got injured,” the statement said.

The injured were shifted to Hospital for treatment. After completing all medico-legal formalities the body was handed over to his next of kins for last rites.

In another accident, a Tata Sumo bearing registration number JK05C/9893 collided with a Maruti I-10 bearing registration number JK09/5110 at Magam Tumpora, Handwara. “In the accident two persons got injured. Both the injured were shifted to District Hospital Handwara for treatment.”

Meanwhile, fire broke out in the residential house of Abdul Majeed Ban son of Abdul Kareen Ban resident of Narain Bagh, Ganderbal.

“In the fire accident, the house hold goods and essential commodities in the house got damaged. Fire was brought under control by fire tenders and police.
