Police sized 30 kgs of poppy straw and arrested three persons in Kulgam last evening, a police statement said on Saturday evening.
“Acting on special information regarding the three persons, Riyaz Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Rasool Wani resident of Bugam Kulgam, Bilal Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Rashid Bhat resident of OKai, Kulgam and Mohammad Rafiq Khanday son of Abdul Rashid Khanday resident of Pooniwa were carrying poppy straw in Santro Car bearing registration number JK03B/6938. Police Kulgam stopped the vehicle near Wanpoh Qaimoh, Kulgam. During the search 30 Kgs of Poppy straw were seized from the vehicle,” the statement said.
Kulgam Police arrested all the three and seized the vehicle. Police has registered an FIR number 174/2014 under section 15-18 NDPS and investigation is on.
