According to officials, debris from the slide destroyed six houses in Kuntri ward of Nagar Panchayat Nandanagar. Teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), a medical unit and three ambulances were rushed to the affected site to conduct rescue and relief operations, reports The Hindu.

The incident came a day after more than 2,500 tourists were left stranded in Mussoorie, as the road connecting the hill station with Dehradun remained blocked for a second consecutive day following heavy rainfall and cloudbursts in the state capital.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, as per NDTV report, said rehabilitation work was being expedited with priority given to restoring essential services. His Himachal Pradesh counterpart, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, meanwhile, stated that residents still living in unsafe buildings would be shifted to secure shelters to prevent further casualties.

Meanwhile, teams from the SDRF, NDRF, and the Public Works Department have been deployed, with JCB machines and other equipment pressed into service to clear debris and aid relief efforts.
