SRINAGAR: Vijay Kumar, IGP Kashmir, on Monday informed that the counter-insurgent forces have killed 100 militants this year in Kashmir so far.

He said that of the total militants killed, 71 were local and 29 were foreign.

IGP Kumar said that the maximum casualties were inflicted on Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). While LeT suffered 63 casualties, 24 militants were eliminated from the JeM group.

50 militants (49 local and 1 foreign) were killed in 2021 during the same duration, the Kashmir IGP said.

“100 militants (71 local & 29 foreign) killed in different encounters in 5 months and 12 days this year in 2022. 50 militants (49 local & 01 foreign) were killed last year in 2021 in the same duration. Maximum losses to LeT (63) and JeM (24) terror outfits,” Kashmir Zone Police quoted IGP Kashmir as saying.
