Bisma Hassan: A Science student from Iqbal Memorial Institute Girls Wing Higher Secondary School Bemina Srinagar shared first position with other four student hails from Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
“We were settled in Rajbagh Srinagar when floods forced us to shift to Soura locality. I was under too much strain after floods devastated everything in Srinagar especially in Rajbagh. I lost all my study material and not a single Reference Book was at my disposal after the September Floods. By the grace of Almighty and with the support of my parents and teachers, I got over the tough situation and prepared myself again with dedication. I personally believe that no one can stop you once you have will to perform. It hardly matters whether you succeed or not but the important thing is that you have put all your efforts in realizing your dream. Though I topped the merit list yet I request the BOSE authorities to stop discriminated ‘series policy’ and print examination papers on uniform pattern. My dream is to become a scientist and right now I am preparing myself for the Common Entrance Test.”

My mother told me you have secured 490 marks out of 500 and in lighter vein she said, ‘Misbah! Ten marks are missing.’ This was the moment that I will cherish throughout my life. I do believe in hardwork and for me hardwork is itself luck. Studying with dedication and with heart and soul always bear positive fruits. Once you work hard and concentrate on your studies, you will definitely make a mark.”

To achieve an objective, one should have conviction and will power. I never studied during late hours and out of 24 hours I studied only for 6 to 8 hours. A sound body and sound state of mind matters most. I personally believe that it needs guts to hit an arrow on target. I am quite fortunate that my parents and other members of family are all supportive. I thank Almighty Allah for everything. It’s my burning desire to become a doctor.”
