At least eleven persons were killed in a tragic road accident at Sadna Top in Tanghdar sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday evening.

A police official told GNS that a passenger vehicle (Sumo) JK013-7383 was on way to Karnah from Srinagar, on reaching Stage-II at Sadna Top, the vehicle skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge.

In the mishap, eleven persons including four of a family died, he said.

An official statement said that Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, expressed grief over the death of 11 persons, including three women and a child, in a sumo accident, near Sadhna Top, in Kupwara district today.

In his condolence message, the Chief Minister conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved families in their hour of grief and prayed for peace to the departed souls.

The statement further said that Member Parliament and President, People’s Democratic Party, Mehbooba Mufti expressed grief over the death of 11 persons.

In her condolence message, Mehbooba expressed solidarity with the families of those who lost their near ones in the unfortunate accident. She also prayed for peace to the departed souls.
