SRINAGAR: A total of 118.06 kilometres of roads has been macadamised in Srinagar district during the current financial year, with 15.43 kilometres completed in the Khanyar Assembly constituency, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has informed the Legislative Assembly.
The figures were provided by the Public Works (R&B) Department in response to a starred question raised by National Conference MLA Ali Mohammad Sagar regarding the macadamisation and upgradation of roads in Srinagar.
According to the department, the 118.06-km figure covers road works undertaken by both the PW(R&B) Department and Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) during the current financial year. In Khanyar constituency, 15.43 km of roads have been macadamised or upgraded during the year so far.
The department also stated that the project-wise physical and financial status of ongoing R&B projects under District Capex in Srinagar district has been compiled separately in Annexures A1 and A2 submitted with the reply.
Details of the physical and financial targets achieved under various road-widening projects in Srinagar, including the Koolipora-Budoobagh Road, have also been provided in Annexure B.
The Assembly reply further disclosed limited revenue details for community centres under the R&B Department in Srinagar. The Marriage Hall at ChatpanKocha generated Rs 3.79 lakh in 2023-24, according to the department.
The question had also sought year-wise details of revenue generated from community centres during the last three years and its utilisation, including expenditure on maintenance works, particularly in Khanyar constituency.
