SRINAGAR: The 11th Ladakh Zanskar Festival 2026 was inaugurated in Zanskar Valley on Tuesday, with the event highlighting the region’s cultural heritage, distinct identity and tourism potential.
The festival, the first to be held since Zanskar attained district status, featured cultural celebrations and participation from local communities.
Ladakh Lieutenant Governor said the festival’s inclusion in the official tourism calendar, along with increasing tourist footfall and improved road connectivity, was creating new livelihood opportunities for young people, entrepreneurs, artisans and local businesses in the region.
The festival is aimed at showcasing Zanskar’s cultural heritage while promoting its tourism potential, according to the Lieutenant Governor.
The Lieutenant Governor urged young people to preserve Zanskar’s heritage and use digital platforms and technology to present the region’s culture to a wider audience.
The administration also reiterated its commitment to developing Zanskar as a vibrant, prosperous and sustainable region.
The 11th edition of the festival was inaugurated amid local cultural celebrations in the Zanskar Valley.
