Taking a  lenient view of youth from Pulwama district detained for first time on charges of stone pelting, police on the instruction of Inspector General of Police Kashmir zone released at least 13 ‘stone-pelters’ in South Kashmir’s Pulwama town.

The development came after a team of experts held counseling session with the detained youth in Pulwama. Scores of youth have been detained in the district for allegedly pelting stones during last some days.

A police official told CNS that all the released ‘stone-pelters’ were first time offenders and they had no record of stone-pelting in the past. “We hope that these youth will not indulge in violence in future and concentrate on their carrier and education,” he said adding that parents of these youth assured the police these wards will never try to disrupt the peace in the town or elsewhere.
