As per police, the militant trio turned down “repeated surrender” offers given to them by government forces.

A police official said that despite the hectic efforts of government forces and the family of minor from Chitragam, the minor “wasn’t first allowed by other trapped militants to come out for surrender and later Faisal himself rejected surrender offers.”

It is pertinent to mention that Faisal’s family had been appealing to him to return home ever since he went missing from April 6 this year.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said the police and government forces made “sincere efforts” to persuade the newly recruited militants to surrender during the live gunfight but his associates didn’t allow him to come out.

“We tried our best to take the surrender of newly recruited third militant but he was not allowed to do so by his associates,” the IGP told news agency KNO.

Kashmir Zone police in a tweet said that police and security forces made sincere efforts to take the surrender of newly recruited militant. “Parents also made appeals but other militants didn’t allow him to surrender,” police Tweeted.
