Kulgam police has rescued 140 civilians from Waltengu Nard on Saturday, said police.

In all 140 civilians comprising of 50 children, 45 males and 45 females were rescued. They have been brought to Waltengu village. A rescue operation was launched last evening in Waltengu Nard in Tehsil Qazigund which is prone to snow related casualties and property loses. The operation was suspended last night and was launched this morning under the supervision of S.P Kulgam Mohammad Shafi.

As per police statement the inspector general of police SM Sahai has directed all the district police authorities to provide all possible help to the people in the wake of the snowfall.
