SRINAGAR: As many as 145 Degree Colleges are currently functioning across Jammu and Kashmir, including six in Bandipora district, the Higher Education Department has informed the Legislative Assembly.
The information was provided in response to an unstarred question by Bandipora MLA Nizam-ud-din Bhat, who sought details of higher and technical educational institutions operating across the Union Territory, with particular reference to his constituency.
According to the department, six of the 145 functional GDCs are located in Bandipora.
The government also reported that Jammu and Kashmir has 54 Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and 31 private ITIs, besides 22 Government Polytechnics and four private Polytechnics.
Bandipora constituency currently has two technical institutions—a Government ITI and a Government Polytechnic, the department said.
