SRINAGAR: The 15 children aged 8-14 years putting up at an orphanage in Kishtwar have tested positive for COVID-19 and were isolated, reported Daily Excelsior.

Quoting health officials newspaper Daily Excelsior reported that initially two kids were subjected to testing for COVID-19 as they were symptomatic. One of them tested positive. Later, all children living in the orphanage were tested for pathogens and 15 more today reported positive for the virus.

However, 15 kids who were tested positive today were asymptomatic.

“All of them have been isolated at the orphanage itself,” the officials said.

The orphanage and its surroundings have been declared as Containment Zone by Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Sharma.

As per the officials, the orphanage children had also attended an Army function at Kishtwar helipad during Independence Day celebrations on August 15. The Army personnel will also be tested for the virus, they said.
