Around 150 candidates filed their nominations for 15 assembly elections in the state on Wednesday including incumbent ministers and legislators for the coming assembly elections.

The candidates who filed their nomination papers include Mian Mohammad Altaf, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Mohammad Akbar Lone, Abdul Majid Wani and Vikar Rasool.

Qazi Mohamad Afzal of PDP filed nominations from Ganderbal while as the former minister and Congress leader Mohammad Shrief Niyaz, Congress’s Usman Majid, former Div Com Kashmir Mehboob Iqbal and former bureaucrat Bashir Ahmad Runiyal also filed their nominations.

Jammu and Kashmir will witness the first phase of polling on November 25.

Scrutinized for the first phase of elections will take place on November 7 while as the candidates can withdraw their nomination forms till November 10.

Polling for the first phase will be held in seven districts of J&K for 15 assembly segments.

Reports said that around 150 candidates of different parties have filed their papers before the Returning Officers (RO).

For Central Kashmir’s Kangan and Ganderbal, 23 candidates filed their nomination papers including the former minister Qazi Mohammad Afzal, NC leader Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat and others.
