Sister waits for brother from 16 yearsScores of men,women and children appeared in Press Enclave Srinagar on Tuesday seeking whereabouts about their loved ones who had got disappeared during militancy allegedly at the hands of security personnel.

Shabnam Banoo from Gangbou, Batamaloo while narrating her woeful tale about her brother told CNS that they are looking for Manzoor Ahmed Dar from past 16 years and he is still untraced.

“My brother Manzoor Ahmed was a shopkeeper who was picked up by 20 Grenade RR personnel in 1997 when he was returning to his home. He was not having any affiliation with any militant outfit and we were surprised over his detention,” she said.

She said that Manzoor was taken to Army Camp located at Boatman Coloney Bemina and “when we visited there we were told to visit next day and take Manzoor along with you,” Shabnam said adding that her brother was the lone bread earner for the family and soon after his disappearance she left studies due to lack or resources.

Shabnam said that next day they were surprised when Army officers told us that they have not picked up Manzoor. “We have been roaming from pillar to post to have a glimpse of Manzoor. We incurred lot of expenditure during all these years in search of our beloved Manzoor,” she said adding that her mother has lost eyesight while her father had recently a paralysis attack.

“A few years back we heard that Manzoor was seen in one of the Central Kashmir’s Army Camp. We went there but one of the Army officer by name of Shakoori denied that charge and we were disappointed,” she said adding that they have already registered a case at Police Station Shergari.,” she said and appealed the government to help them in tracing out their beloved one.
