Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday said that 164 incidents of braid chopping occurred during past few months in the valley.

In a written reply to a question of three National Conference Legislators in Legislative Assembly, Minister in charge Home Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said that 38 incidents occurred in Srinagar, 22 in Budgam, 6 in Ganderbal,  26 in Islamabad, 12 in Pulwama,5 in Awantipora, 25 in Kulgam, 5 in Shopian, 9 in Baramulla, 10 in Bandipora and 6 in Kupwara.

Minister further informed that Two persons were arrested, namely Mohammad Aslam Shah and Adil Ahmad Shah, both residents of Bamroda Khag, district Budgam and a lady Zareefa resident of Shalkoote village of Balhama area in Baramulla district was also arrested.

The government also stated that no compensation was given to victims.
