SRINAGAR: In a surge of political activity, 17 candidates from various parties have filed their nominations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the Srinagar constituency, Daily Excelsior reported.

Among them, prominent figures include Waheed Rehman Parra, the youth president of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and Mohammad Ashraf Mir, the provincial president of the Apni Party in Kashmir.

Accompanied by senior party leaders, Parra and Mir officially entered the electoral race by submitting their nomination papers to Srinagar Deputy Commissioner Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, who serves as the Returning Officer for the constituency.

With the election scheduled for the fourth phase on May 13, the increased number of candidates reflects the competitive spirit and diversity of political representation in the region.
