SRINAGAR: In the last 24 hours, Jammu and Kashmir lost 17 persons across 20 districts as the new infections were at 1098 indicating an increase in the last two days.

Kashmir lost 10 citizens and Jammu seven in the last 24 hours.

The trend of infected people outnumbering the fully recovered people continues. In the last 24 hours, as many as 3040 people recovered thus reducing the number of active cases to 19852. The recoveries included 944 cases in Jammu and 2102 in Kashmir.

Now the death toll of Covid19 in Jammu and Kashmir is 4118 people including 2118 in Kashmir and 2000 in Jammu.

In the last 24 hours, two deaths took place in Jammu city and one in Srinagar city, the information revealed by the government said.

The district-wise details suggest that Kashmir lost three citizens each in Baramulla and Budgam and one each in Anantnag, and Kupwara and Pulwama.

Apart from two deaths reported from Jammu city, the region lost each in Udhampur, Rajouri, Kathua, Kishtwar, and Reasi.

In the last 24 hours, officials said 1098 new Covid-19 positives were reported from across Jammu and Kashmir. Of them, Srinagar alone accounted for 54, and Jammu, the other capital of the erstwhile state reported 97 cases.

Of the new cases detected in the last 24 hours, Kashmir accounts for 774 cases against 324 of the Jammu division.

In Kashmir, the new cases include 54 from Baramulla, 113 from Budgam, 65 from Pulwama, 75 from Kupwara, 69 from Anantnag, 23 from Bandipora, 41 from Ganderbal, 64 from Kulgam, and 16 from Shopian.

From Jammu, officials said Udhampur reported 22, Rajouri 46, Doda 41, Kathua 18, Samba 8, Kishtwar 10, Poonch 35, Ramban 37, and Reasi 103.

Right now, Jammu and Kashmir has 19852 active cases, which includes 12336 in Kashmir 7516 in Jammu.
