SRINAGAR: The law enforcement agencies have arrested 170 overground workers in Kashmir, this year, reports appearing in the media said.

The OGWs are being seen as the key elements for sustaining militancy as they help militants in movement, ammunition supplies and housing.

Those arrested include the group of OGWs who were instrumental in ferrying two militants from Samba to Jammu where they engaged the police in an encounter at Sunjuwan.

On April 28, reports said the police arrested three OGWs from Kupwara for smuggling weapons from across the LoC. Another OGW was arrested in Kulgam on May 1.
