SRINAGAR: At least 18 houses were damaged after land subsidence struck Ari Sarhotti village in the Mendhar area of Poonch district on Tuesday, officials said.
Officials said that around 100 residents of the affected houses were shifted to safer locations as a precautionary measure.
Soon after the incident, officials from the tehsil administration rushed to the spot to assess the situation and evaluate the damage caused to the structures.
Tehsildar Mendhar, Rahul Basotra, confirmed the incident and said that revenue officials and other concerned teams are on the ground conducting a detailed assessment of the losses.
The exact extent of the damage is being ascertained, officials added. (GNS)
