An eighteen-year-old student was killed and another sustained grievous injury after a two-wheeler they were riding on met with an accident in Jammu and Kasmir’s Doda district.

The accident happened on late Saturday night when two boys-said to be students of Higher Secondary School Bhaderwah, were returning from a picnic and their bike skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge on Bhaderwah-Basholi highway.

Soon after the accident, both the boys-biker and his pillion rider were rescued by the locals and subsequently evacuated to Sub-district hospital Bhaderwah. However, the biker succumbed to his injuries, and another is undergoing treatment. Reports also suggest that the injured pillion rider was later referred to Jammu hospital for the advanced treatment. The deceased student was identified as Waseem Ahmed, son of Nisar Ahmed, a resident of Parnala, Bhadarwah and another was identified as Sohail Ganai, son of Barkat Ganai, a resident of Dhareja village in Bhadarwah.

Meanwhile, Police have registered a case in this regard and further investigations have been taken up.
