Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Public Works, AR Veeri, Friday informed the House that 2.35 lakh high density fruit plants have been grown in Horticulture Development farm at Zainapora and distributed among the farmers during the last two years. He added that 1.62 lakh imported root stocks have been planted and kept under quarantine conditions at the farm for propagation and multiplication.
Replying to a question of Aijaz Ahmad Mir in Legislative Assembly, the Minister said that Zainapora Advanced Centre for Horticulture Development will be the major centre for propagation and distribution of high density planting and root stock material and will also cater to quarantine requirements of future imported root stocks and plants besides part of it would be used for demonstration of high density plantation.
The Minister said that precious and valuable plant material and root stocks of various kinds and varieties imported from Bulgaria, USA, Armenia and CITH have been planted in Zainapora horticulture farm. He said the plant material and clonal root stock are being propagated and multiplied on scientific lines at this farm and distributed among the farming community of the State to increase productivity for realizing better returns.
Meanwhile Veeri informed the House that a proposal for construction of Gai Dessa-Panjan via Fuji Gali, Gai Dessa to Bhatta and Bimna to Malan roads has been incorporated in the revised core network of PMGSY for unconnected and left out habitations for which proposal stands already submitted to National Rural Development Agency for approval.
Replying to a question by Neelam Kumar Langeh in Legislative Assembly today, the Minister said that in this regard the DPRs worth Rs. 72.91 crore have been prepared by R&B Department Jammu adding that the said road projects are not approved yet in any scheme and once the approval is received from National Rural Development Agency the works would be taken up.
