Two militants and two army men were killed in a shootout in Hajin area in northern part of Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday.

Sources said that militants opened fire on a joint party of 13 RR of army and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir police laying siege to Rakh (Paribal) area of Hajin today morning following inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

“As the forces were closing in, the hiding militants fired upon them around 5 am, resulting in injuries to many army personnel. Two of them succumbed later.”

Reports said that the two army personnel belonged to Indian Air Forces “Garuda Force”.

Sources said that during the brief exchange of fire two militants were also killed.

A senior police official said that bodies of two militants are lying near the shootout site.

J&K DGP SP Vaid tweeted that militants belong to Lashker-e-Toiba.
