Curfew continues for the second consecutive day in the major parts of Srinagar city, Trehgam and Sopore towns while as strict restrictions have been imposed under Article 144 in all the prominent towns of the valley.

“Curfew is imposed in Nawhatta,Khanyar,MR Ganj,Rainawari,Safa Kadal,Zadibal,Kralekhud andMaisuma police station areas in the Srinagar city and Trehgam and Sopore towns in north Kashmir,” Police spokesman told Kashmir Life.

Strict restrictions are in place in all the towns of the valley including  Baramulla, Kupwara,Pattan,Budgam,Ganderbal,Bandipora,Tral,Bijbihara,Pampore,Pulwama,Shopian,Islamabad etc. Police sources said that these restrictions are to maintain the law and order situation.

The locals of these towns allege that they are under an undeclared curfew and they have been told not to move out of their houses.

Curfew and restrictions were imposed during Tuesday night after the death of a 25 year old man Tahir Rasool Sofi, in Baramulla allegedly by the hands of army men belonging to 46 RR.

A new and strong wave of protests spread all over the valley against the killing. At least 50 people including some police and forces personnel got injured in violent clashes on Wednesday throughout valley. Clashes were very severe in the evening especially in the old city areas.
