SRINAGAR: Police in Jammu seized 20 bags of suspected adulterated paneer from a bus during the intervening night of September 13 and 14, officials said.
The bus, bearing registration number JK02CE-4300, was intercepted during checking at Greater Kailash Naka within the jurisdiction of Police Station Gangyal, following which the suspected dairy product was found being transported in the vehicle.
Police informed the Food Safety Department and called its officials to Police Station Gangyal for necessary action. The recovered paneer was subsequently handed over to the department for examination, sampling and further proceedings under the law.
Further action in the matter is being taken by the concerned department in accordance with the prescribed legal provisions.
Police said the action was aimed at safeguarding public health and preventing the transportation of food products suspected of posing a risk to public safety.
