SRINAGAR: At least 20 Umrah pilgrims were killed and 29 injured after a bus crashed in southwest of Saudi Arabia and burst into flames on Monday, Dubai-based Gulf News reported.

The passenger bus crashed into a bridge after the vehicle’s breaks failed, overturned, and caught fire, killing 20 and injuring 29.

The victims were on their way to Mecca to perform Umrah.

Teams from the Red Crescent Authority and Saudi civil defence arrived quickly at the scene of the accident and roped off the area, reported Gulf News. The injured have been taken to local medical facilities for treatment.
