20 Killed as Turkish Military Plane Crashes in Georgia Near Azerbaijani Border

   

SRINAGAR: A Turkish military cargo aircraft carrying 20 personnel crashed in Georgia’s Sighnaghi municipality near the Azerbaijani border, officials from all three countries confirmed on Tuesday, according to Euronews.

The C-130 transport plane, operated by the Turkish Air Force, had departed from Azerbaijan and was returning to Turkey when it went down under unexplained circumstances, Turkey’s Ministry of Defence said, as reported by Reuters.

Rescue and emergency teams from Turkey, Georgia, and Azerbaijan have been deployed to the crash site.

Authorities have launched a joint investigation to determine the cause of the crash and reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the tragedy.
