Independent legislator Er Rashid Wednesday termed the revelations made by Justice Koul that the families of most of the 2010 deceased youth are interested in getting jobs rather punishing the guilty as “shameless and a desperate act to give cover-up to the state sponsored terrorism”.

Er-RashidAddressing a public meeting at Shartpora Langate, Rashid said, “after hushing up Tufail Mattoo’s case Mufti government at the behest of New Delhi is all set to indict the victims of 2010 mass apprising rather than punishing the accused. It was same PDP which had very often till the near past been crying for justice for 2010 victims and now when it is in power it is acting as a collaborator and proxy of New Delhi to hide the heinous crimes of security forces and other agencies,” a party statement quoted Rashid as having said.

He further said, “Justice Koul must restrain from adding salt to the injuries of Kashmiris by saying that the families want jobs and are not interested in punishing the killers.”

He asked, “Isn’t it duty of the state to provide jobs for those who lost their precious lives, to those who were supposed to protect them and how could seek jobs for the families effect the investigation?”

“If Justice Koul is least interested in identifying the killers, may Koul ask that does giving jobs to victims snatch the right from them to demand the punishment for the killers in uniform and how can the brutal killings of 2010 be treated to be compensated if families are supposed to have received ex gratia worth Rs 5 lakh each. Does Koul mean that life of a Kashmiri youth costs Rs 5 lakh or a job?  It is high time for Justice Koul to apologize and introspect and should not humiliate Kashmiris and get himself embarrassed despite being a law knowing personality,” he said.

“Koul has made his own position suspicious and doubtful, as had the policeman mentioned name of the killers or the agencies in the FIR, then there would have been no need to set one man’s commission to probe the killings,” he further said.

Rashid reminded Koul that if Kashmiri Pandits could seek thousands of jobs after losing few members of their community, how come Kashmiri Muslims could be charged of not being interested in punishing the killers in uniform if they demand jobs for the families of the victims. “The stage seems to be set for burying coffin of yet one more so called enquiry commission findings to give free hand to state sponsored white collar outlawed men in uniform.”
