SRINAGAR: Police on Saturday submitted a charge sheet against the six accused persons including one Pakistani militant, who was killed in the encounter last year, in connection with a case (FIR No: 69/2019) registered at police station Gund under ULA(P) Act and pertains to militant activities.

A police spokesman said that the accused individuals include Farooq Ahmad Sheikh resident of Kullan, Rayees Ahmad Lone resident of Gund, Nisar Ahmad alias Batchi of Hajin, Tariq Ahmad Ganai of Fraw Haknar, Fayaz Ahmad Bhat resident of Kangan and a Pakistani militant Zargam alias Talha who was killed during an encounter at Kullan in 2019.

“As per the police investigation they are involved in actively supporting and assisting and harbouring active militants in the area and providing logistic support besides transporting them from one place to another.”

As per the investigation, their involvement has been established in unlawful activities, a police spokesman said

“Pertinently one of the accused Nisar @Batchi is an active militant affiliated with proscribed outfit LeT while another co-accused, a militant from Pakistan Zargam @Talha was killed in the encounter at Kullan,” he said.

“Based on the evidence collected during the course of the investigation, they have been found to be involved in the criminal case and accordingly while pursuing the investigations in a professional manner, today a charge sheet was presented before the court. All the five accused are lodged in judicial custody,” said the spokesman.
