223 Sportspersons Selected for Govt Jobs Under Jammu Kashmir Sports Quota

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Sports Minister Satish Sharma on Wednesday congratulated 223 sportspersons selected for government appointments under the Sports Quota, describing the move as a major step towards recognising sporting excellence and creating career opportunities for athletes in the Union Territory.

In a post on X, Sinha congratulated the selected candidates, saying their achievements, dedication and hard work had brought glory to Jammu and Kashmir and the nation. He wished them a bright future and continued success.

Sports Minister Satish Sharma said the appointment orders would be formally handed over to the selected candidates by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. He also expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for supporting and facilitating the recruitment process.

Calling the selections a significant milestone in the lives of the athletes, Sharma said the government remains committed to strengthening support systems for sportspersons and providing avenues for professional growth through sports.

He said efforts are underway to connect the youth of Jammu and Kashmir with broader national and international sporting platforms, enabling sports to emerge as both a field of excellence and a viable career option.

The minister urged young people across the Union Territory to view sports as a pathway to opportunity, character-building and nation-building, adding that the success of the 223 selected athletes should inspire aspiring sportspersons across Jammu and Kashmir.
