During the operation, a police team led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), Headquarters, Pulwama, intercepted alleged illegal soil extraction at Gusoo and seized the vehicles and excavator from the spot.
Preliminary findings indicated that the extraction was being carried out in violation of the prescribed terms and conditions of the permit, police said.
A case has been registered at Police Station Pulwama under relevant provisions of law, and further investigation is underway to establish the facts and fix responsibility.
Police urged the public to report incidents of illegal mining, stating that cooperation from residents would help protect the environment and preserve public resources.
