2364 persons are lodged in various jails of state and outside J&K, government informed state legislature on Monday.
Responding to a question by M Y Tarigami asking particulars of persons lodged in different jails in and outside J&K, the government replied that out of 2364 inmates, 12 have been lodged outside the state.
Giving further details, it said that 354 persons are Convicts, 1934 are Under Trials while 25 people from J&K and 51 Foreigners are lodged under Public Safety Act (PSA).
The reply also informed that out of 1935 cases of Under Trial Prisoners, Challan have been produced against 1834 cases.
