SRINAGAR: A 25 KV electricity transformer was allegedly stolen from the Arnia area of Jammu district during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, with local residents seeking an early police investigation.
Residents said unidentified thieves removed the transformer and took away the copper wire from inside the unit.
According to locals, the transformer had been installed several years ago but was yet to be commissioned because no electricity connection had been provided to it.
Residents described the incident as a major theft and urged police to investigate the matter and trace those responsible.
