25 passengers, pregnant lady stranded at Zanskar for over 1 week; Authorities unmoved

Twenty-five passengers including a pregnant lady are stranded in Zanskar Padum area of Ladakh for over one week after heavy snowfall blocked the Kargil-Leh road.

The passengers while talking to Kashmir Life said that for last one week they are stuck in Zanskar. The passengers, including a pregnant woman, belong to different parts of Leh and Ladakh.

“We are around 25 passengers including a pregnant woman and children. We are stuck here from last one week. We repeatedly called the air helpline of army. However, they came and lifted the tourists and the workers of Beacon and promised to come back but they never returned. Many of us are running out of money,” Fayaz Ali, a stranded passengers said.

“We request government to get us out from here,” he said.

He further said that the helipad from where army is supposed to lift us is just three kilometres away from the spot.

Meanwhile, MLA Zanskar, Syed Muhammad Baqir Rizvi while talking to Kashmir Life said that he will look into the matter and direct the concerned to immediately evacuate the stranded passengers.
