274 Dead in 8 Air Accidents in India This Year: Govt

   

SRINAGAR: The government on Thursday has said that eight air accidents have occurred in the country so far this year, resulting in a total of 274 deaths.

Among these incidents was the Air India crash on June 12, which claimed 260 lives. In addition, there were three trainee aircraft accidents and four helicopter crashes.

Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, informed the Lok Sabha that all of these incidents are currently under investigation by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB).

“A total of eight accidents, involving one scheduled aircraft, three trainee aircraft, and four helicopters have been reported in 2025 so far,” Mohol said in a written reply.

He further added that one person died in a helicopter crash in Gujarat on April 22, six people were killed in a chopper accident in Uttarakhand on May 8, and another seven lost their lives in a separate helicopter crash in Uttarakhand on June 15.
