At least 28 people have suffered injuries during the clashes between civilian protesters and police, paramilitary forces on Thursday in Zainapora village of Shopian district.

Two policemen were also injured in the clashes.

Earlier and army vehicle crushed a 9-year-old girl to death in the village. The accident caused outrage and people from adjoining villages hit streets to protest the death.

Local correspondent reports said that the Primary Health Centre Zainapora has so far received 28 injured some of whom have been discharged after treatment.

They said that most of the injured have received pellets.

Meanwhile, clashes have intensified in the village and the protesters have pelted stones on the Sub-Divisional Magistrate office and Tehsil Office buildings causing minor damages.

Police officials of the district told Kashmir Life that they have filed an FIR against 55 RR.

The body of the deceased girl has been kept in police station Zainapora and will be handed over to the family later.

Meanwhile, the GOC victor force, Major Gen BS Raj told Kashmir Life that the incident is unfortunate. He expressed solidarity with the family.
