SRINAGAR: A total of 2,875 school-related civil works were completed across Jammu and Kashmir during 2025-26, including 1,689 projects under Samagra Shiksha and 1,186 under the CAPEX Budget, the government has said.
The School Education Department provided the figures in response to an unstarred question by Javaid Riyaz, MLA from Pattan, seeking details of school buildings constructed during the financial year and the status of projects in the subdivision.
In Sub-Division Pattan, several school infrastructure projects have either been completed or remain under execution, according to the department’s project-wise data.
Under District CAPEX, the department reported completion of the four-room school building at Primary School Garne Mohalla, Tilgam, the two-ACR building at Middle School Dandoora, the three-ACR building at BPS Bailhearn, the five-room wooden-truss building at Government High School Andergam, and the four-room double-storey building at BMS Habak Tanga.
The three-ACR building at MS Om Buran remains under construction and was recorded at 60 per cent physical progress.
Under UT CAPEX, the 10-room double-storey building at GHSS Sultanpora and the 10-room building at HSS Mirgund have been completed. The 10-room building at Government HSS Goshbugh was at 90 per cent progress, while projects at High School Hanjiwera Payeen, Kore Sherabad and Tilgam remained under construction.
The department’s data show that District CAPEX works listed for the Pattan area had a combined administrative approval cost of Rs 204.80 lakh, with Rs 89.88 lakh approved and released during 2025-26 and Rs 76.79 lakh spent during the year.
The corresponding UT CAPEX projects had a combined approved cost of Rs 1,347.37 lakh Against an allocation of Rs 224 lakh for 2025-26, Rs 190.40 lakh was released and Rs 148.85 lakh spent during the year.
Several projects under Samagra Shiksha also remain at different stages of execution. These include infrastructure works at GBHSS Pattan, GHSS Palhallan, BMS Dangerpora, HSS Nehalpora, GHSS Goshbugh, BMGS Khore Sherabad, BMS Kungamdara, BMS Renraypora and GHS Ahmadpora.
Among these, the work at BMS Dangerpora had reached 70 per cent, while the project at BMGS Khore Sherabad was also at 70 per cent. The works at BMS Kungamdara and BMS Renraypora were at 20 per cent and 45 per cent respectively.
The department said details of funds earmarked and released, expenditure incurred, locations and the present status of works in Sub-Division Pattan were provided in the annexure accompanying its reply.
In a separate Assembly reply, the Agriculture Production Department said the UT government has no proposal under consideration to provide a subsidy of up to 90 per cent for installing hail nets in existing and traditional fruit orchards, including apple orchards.
